On January 19, 2008, over 150 Defenders, Associates, and friends gathered to celebrate the kick-off of the new Central Florida Chapter. Following the inaugural meeting, 105 motorcycles took a commemorative ride through scenic Lakeland, ending in a party at an Irish pub downtown. The party continued well into the evening as Defenders braved the rain and the celebration moved to a neighborhood sports bar for dinner and libations. |

| Special thanks goes to the Lakeland Police Department for allowing the Defenders to use their facilities for our meeting and for providing an escort on the commemorative ride.
